Leader and Co-Leader Agreement
- A Youth Leader is a person who has undergone a minimum amount of training in youth work and/or is receiving such training;
- The minimum amount of training for a person to become a Co-Youth Leader is determined by ŻAK from time to time;
- ŻAK and/or AKM reserves the right to demand that a Youth Leader has specific training, demand further training and/or re-training in order for a person to be able to be confirmed in the role;
- A Youth Leader has the responsibilities and rights given to her/him by the Laws of Malta, the general statute of the AKM (Statut Ġenerali tal-Azzjoni Kattolika Maltija), the statute of ŻAK (Statut taż-Żgħażagħ Azzjoni Kattolika), the code of ethics of ŻAK (Kodiċi ta’ Etika għal Ħidma fiż-ŻAK) and the Manual of Procedures of ŻAK, and any policy document that ŻAK/AKM adopt for the service rendered within the organisation from time to time
- A Youth Leader who follows the Laws, Rules and procedures mentioned above is covered by ŻAK’s and AKM’s insurance, unless otherwise declared by the Courts of Justice or competent civil authorities;
- The service offered by a Youth Leader is on voluntary basis, unless otherwise agreed by ŻAK and AKM;
- A person is recognized and authorized as a Youth Leader with ŻAK by means of a mandate issued by the AKM, according to an internal rules and procedures;
- A mandate can be issued as valid for up to three years, at the discretion of ŻAK and AKM, and is renewable for an indefinite amount of years, upon request from the person;
- The appointment and confirmation of a person in the role of a Youth Leader is guided by an internal AKM policy that regulates such roles;
- The appointment and or confirmation of a person in the role of a Youth Leader is at the discretion of ŻAK and AKM;
- A person who is not confirmed in the role, cannot keep on having direct contact with a youth group in ŻAK and/or AKM;
- ŻAK and AKM reserve the right to do all the necessary checks, permitted by the Laws of Malta, to ensure that the person being considered for the role of Co-Youth Leader is fit to work with minors and/or vulnerable persons;
- ŻAK and AKM reserve the right to report any misconduct in relation to the youth group one is working with or to individual young people, to competent authorities, including the Church hierarchy. This is done according to the Laws, regulations and procedures described in the documents mentioned in Part 2, Section 1, Point 5. In such cases all the necessary personal information will be passed on as requested by the authorities.
- The Youth Leader is responsible for any personal belongings or valuables one has during any of ŻAK’s or AKM’s activities. ŻAK and AKM cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or theft of such valuables and/or personal belongings, not even if these are being used as a tools, resource or an educational aid in any of ŻAK’s and AKM’s activities.
